I will admit, I have a weakness and fondness for breakfast sandwiches. From time to time (most workday mornings) I have been known to frequent national food chains and local hangouts to get a fix for the day.
My favorite sandwich is a ham, egg and cheese croissant... in a variety of variations, like extra meat. On occasion I make a dramatic switch and get a sausage one.... but always to go.
Perhaps it’s my need for comfort food, conquering the hunger pangs or maybe even habit.
That said... what really sets me off is a messy sandwich, meat hanging out, the cheese heated to the point that it runs out of the croissant, moisture dripping out while I am eating it and spotting my shirt. It almost ruins my day.
Yes, however upset I get, I eat it. My basic need for food is solved, but... the image of the sandwich in a disgusting mess is almost more than I can endure. Sometimes I take it back and ask for a replacement... asking the counter person... would you really eat this... or even bluntly asking... is this the best you can do?
I even know which store locations in my city of 60,000 puts out the worst ones... consistently. I also know the stores that do a great job of consistently presenting great products. At some brands, ordering, “off the grill” is a great feature if you don’t know about that... it’s done, just for you!
Why the rant. It’s all about the presentation. If a customer buys a product or service, they deserve the best you can offer, consistently. When you give your customer or clients a great product or service and it’s presented, professionally and in great shape... everyone is happy. Customers will come back and even tell others what a great business you have.
That said... if I come to your business and buy your product or service. Will I be so impressed that I come back again? Or better yet... share my positive experience?
